In this musical scene from musical justice (1931) Mae Questel plays betty boop and Rudy Vallee plays the judge
Betty Boop preforms one of her signature songs - Dont take my Boop oop a doop away also preforming a helen kane styled song Do something which can also be heard in the fleischer studios betty boop cartoon Boop oop a doop (1932) most likely kate wright doing the role in the 1932 cartoon
Mae Questel also preformed the song as one of her first recordings but instead of saying dont take my ( Boop Oop a Doop) away she said Dont take my (Boop Oop e Doop) away
the songs lyrics are very simple
You can feed me bread and water, Or a great big bale of hay, But don't take my boop-oop-a-doop away!
You can say my voice is awful, Or my songs are too risque
Oh, but don't take my boop-oop-a-doop away!
last but not least this song can also be heard in instrumental in betty boops trial (1934) not sure if it was refrenced to helen kanes lawsuit against the fleischer studios
and the song can last be heard in the fleischer victory newsreel (1934) after winning against helen kanes lawsuit
Mae Questel Preforms the song in the victory newsreel with booping help from kate wright, little ann rothschild, margie hines & bonnie poe

Dont take my Boop oop a doop away
was proberly only one of Betty Boops songs which helen kane had never sang first
Helen kane never really did own the songs that she sang in her movies and recorded on records anyone could sing them and record them thats why nobody really was bothered when betty boop preformed, I have to have you,Do something,Aintcha, and thats my weakness now
but betty boop did preform them in a simuler way also with the booping.
neverless one of betty boops original signature songs apart from her title theme - (made of pen and ink she can win you with a wink) was dont take my boop oop a doop away
like was said it can be heard first in musical justice which was live action betty being played by mae questel who became her most loved voice also can be heard a few times in the earliest cartoons
1931 - Musical justice - live action
1932 - Boop oop a Doop - cartoon
1934 - Betty Boops Trial -cartoon - Insturmental as title song
1934 - Fleischer victory newsreel - right after winning against helen kanes $250000 suit against fleischer studios
its funny becuse mae questel also gets to preform the song last and the other voices of betty boop only get to boop to the song
ive also heard that there was a song sheet to the actual song which is actually rare and stated - NOT FOR SALE!
also speaking of rudy vallee he can be heard in a numerous ammount of betty boop cartoons and screen songs he also appeared in poor cinderella (1934) and it seems the artists who were making the cartoons tried to make it look like he was wearing no trousers becuse they didnt like him, also myron waldman hated bimbo the dog and decided to create a character called pudgy the dog who was cute and all... but i did prefare bimbo
